The Triangle
Where is it?
The Triangle lies north of Tythrop Way – adjacent the skatepark. As part of a previous Thame Green Living project the gates to it have been opened up to permit a safe pedestrian route, crossing by traffic lights from the Queen Elizabeth Recreation Area to Moorend Lane, Ham Wood and the many footpaths beyond.
Hedge Fund! Carmichael UK sponsor a ‘collaborative’ new hedge for Thame
In 2021, a project to plant a new hedge on the site was delivered on the site. The project was a real collaboration and would not have been possible without the following support:
- Thame Green Living: Charles Boundy saw and progressed the opportunity and made the plans, Colin Bloxham added expertise and planting muscle, and John Scott provided the link to …
- Thame Town Council: Asset Manager Andrea Oughton provided the opportunity, supported by colleagues and councillors. The TTC maintenance team prepared the ground
- Carmichael UK: specialist civil engineering recruiters based in Thame who provided the funds and an enthusiastic planting party, led by directors Rod and Collette Carmichel, and
- Thame Trees/ 21st Century Thame: led by Sue Martin-Downhill who coordinated the purchase of hedge whips, protectors and mulch (thanks to JB Services), and led the planting party, brilliantly supported by Peter Griffiths and Gaye Lynch
- John Morris: local Tree expert who provided expert advice on species, distribution, care
- Helpful Hirings: for the invaluable loan of a turf stripper.
Further planting and landscaping in this area
A project is now underway, supported by SODC funding from another project that took place to plant trees on Queen Elizabeth Circle play area. This will explore the possibility of more planting, as well as whether or not the site could hold a controlled area for composting – the output of which could be used for future planting projects.

Get involved in this project
Volunteers are needed to maintain this area in the future. Work includes:
- removing old tree guards
- staking trees
- weeding around newly planted trees
- watering newly planted trees in drier periods
- Some periodic hedge cutting and tree pruning is likely to be required.
